Sabadell, Barcelona 26 de junio de 2016

Kedada, domingo 26 de junio de 2016

This week we are starting the blog in English as well as Catalan.
We changed meeting point again this week as the Bar El LLit was closed for the St Joan weekend festivities. There were only a few of us but we laughed and chatted away as usual! Marisol, Rosie, Anna, Mari, Neus, Isabel, Pepita i Carina were all present .
The heat is on now and we are all beginning to change our work for the soft touch of cotton.

Rosie is fixing a denim jacket for her daughters who are going to argue about which one will be using now that it has an elegant contrasting patch.

Today's main theme was politics, there are General Elections happening in Spain. Rosie is still furious about the results of the referendum in the UK last Thursday. She explained her own personal situation to the group. Rosie is from N. Ireland and has had dual nationality since she was born, all the citizens from that small part of the world have the right to be British and Irish at the same time.
Neus has just flown in from Thailand and absolutley fell in love with the country. She says it's really clean and there are even special places on the street where smokers have to go. She was also impressed by the smells of the constant street cooking which all mingle together and it is these different and contrasting smells that  first  hit her . She also told us all about her nephew Bru's surprise present for his third birthday - Neus made him an exact replica of a Fireman's  uniform!

We also spent some time looking at a book of Sabadell photos from 1994 and we were astonished at how much Sabadell has changed in only 20 years or so, but also how many things have stayed the same. Some of the photos that most impressed us were of the old factories with their spindles and looms. Some of us still remember the steady sound of the looms that are no longer heard when we pass the factories . Pepita even worked in one of them and still remembers those days fondly.

Next week we will be  starting our summer outdoor season in the Jardinets de la Caixa. Lovely and fresh! We'll be there from 11 o'clock onwards - do come!                                     ______________________________________

Estarem fresquetes! A partir de les 11.00 us esperem!
